Prizes galore at contest

Pookkalam contestants can vie for best traditional attire

It is that time of the year once again when you can win attractive prizes if you let your creativity soar. The tenth edition of The Hindu-Metro Plus Pookkalam Contest, powered by Chungath Jewellery will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on September 2 to mark the harvest festival of Onam when floral carpets bloom in several households across Kerala.

The contest, first held in 2007, has been witnessing increased participation over the years and has become a top contest of its kind. The venue in Thiruvananthapuram will be Government College for Women, Vazhuthacaud.

Prizes

The teams adjudged first, second and third will receive ₹20,000, ₹12,500, and ₹7,500 respectively. Five teams will be given

₹1,500 as consolation prizes. All teams will be given ₹750 as reimbursement for the cost of flowers. There will be special gifts for all participating teams.

Attire contest

Participants of the pookkalam contest, both women and men, can compete for the best traditional attire contest. The best traditionally dressed team and two individual participants will be given prizes by Chungath Jewellery. There will be other exciting contests for participants and visitors. Entry for visitors will be from 2.30 p.m.
