A six-day-long exhibition of photographs projecting the achievements of the Pinarayi Vijayan-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) government during its first year of rule is underway at the VJT Hall.
The programme, organised by the Information and Public Relations Department, focuses on the various activities that are being undertaken as part of the four ambitious schemes of Nava Kerala Mission, viz., Haritha Keralam, Aardram, Life and the General Education Protection Campaign.
The exhibition seeks to impress upon visitors the priorities provided to ensure the welfare of all sections of the society. These include the efforts to provide land to the landless by removing encroachments, provided unhindered transmission of electricity despite low rainfall, enhancing pension for various sections, including senior citizens and launching an education loan repayment scheme for students.
Major projects that have been launched under each department has been highlighted among the set of 46 photographs. As part of the efforts undertaken by the Education Department, the project to create high-tech classrooms, distribution of textbooks prior to the commencement of the academic year as well as free handloom uniforms have been provided high importance. Likewise, the activities launched to promote agriculture including the revival of paddy farming at Methram Kayal, Aranmula and Rani-Chithira fields have also been emphasised.
The big-ticket projects including the Vizhinjam International Multi-purpose Deepwater Seaport, Kannur International Airport, Kochi Metro and Kochi Water Metro are also projected at the exhibition.
The programme also stresses on the next set of ambitious projects that the government has set its eye on. These included the proposed Kerala Bank and the move to enact the Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act.
The exhibition that was launched by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will come to a close on May 27. (EOM/SBG)
