A woman who complained of neglect even though she had given all her property to her sons got some relief when the Kerala State Women’s Commission on Tuesday asked them to return the property to her.

The commission asked her children, including daughters, to take care of their mother’s upkeep. This was among the 63 complaints settled at an adalat organised by the commission here on Tuesday.

A junior health inspector had complained to the Kerala State Women’s Commission of being threatened in the course of her work. The commission sought a report from the police and the district medical officer for taking further action in the case.

The commission took up the case of a government employee who had complained that her senior ridiculed her in front of colleagues. It asked both to cooperate with each other.

Marital and property disputes between siblings formed a chunk of the 180 cases taken up, commission members Shiji Shivaji and E.M. Radha said.

As many as 97 cases were set aside for the next adalat. Police reports were sought in 15 cases, and five complaints sent for counselling. Commission director V.U. Kuriakose, police officials, lawyers, and a counsellor were present.
