A 220-kV Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) will be set up to take care of the power needs of all port operations of the upcoming International Multipurpose Deepwater Seaport at Vizhinjam.

GIS is a new technology in electrical transmission sector and the substation, requires one-tenth of space compared to the conventional substations.

Adani Vizhinjam Port Private Ltd (AVPPL), the private multi-port operator selected to build the superstructure and operate the seaport, has placed orders for GIS with M/s ABB India Ltd.

Orders have been placed for design and detail engineering, supply, installation, testing and commissioning for electrical works for container backup yard, a spokesman of the AVPPL said.

An ecoshop set up by a group of seven women members with the support of Adani Foundation and Agriculture Department has started functioning.

Organic vegetables sold to the public through this unit. A Blood donation camp was organized on Friday as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility activities of the foundation.
