The capital city is in for a rare treat on Monday. Kottakkal Devadas, who is renowned for essaying the character of Hanuman in Kathakali, will perform here in connection with the 28th remembrance of Vellayani Narayanan Nair, the author of many Kathakali plays.

This is for the first time that Devadas is enacting the role in Thiruvananthapuram.

The ‘Kalyanasougandhikam’ Kathakali will be staged at Theerthapada Mandapam, East Fort, at 5 p.m.

Young artiste Peesappilly Rajeevan will play Bheema. Devadas and Rajeevan have made a mark as a team in Kathakali.

The performance will reflect the northern style of the dance form. Kalamandalam Jishnu Ravi will enact Panchali.
