Intra-State flight operations

Achuthanandan alleges corruption

July 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:01 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has asked Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to explain the circumstances of underwriting four seats for M/s Awadh Aerostate Limited (AAL) to enable intra-State flight operations.

The decision has resulted in loss to the exchequer and is a classic example of the UDF government’s corruption being extended to the skies, Mr. Achuthanandan alleged in a statement here.

The underwriting of the seats for the private Uttar Pradesh operator ignoring the claims of Air India to operate intra-State flight operations is mysterious.

The flight charges being levied by the private airline operator are very high and the Chief Minister should explain why the people of the State are being fleeced like this, he said. – Special Correspondent
