Forests, Sports, and Cinema Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar said here on Saturday that corruption in the government machinery could be checked through proper use of technology.
Inaugurating the Forests headquarters modernisation project, Mr. Ganesh Kumar said he had initiated various schemes to introduce high-end technologies in all the three departments headed by him.

He said modernisation of the Forests headquarters will help put in place energy conservation features in the office complex. “One of the key features of this project is introduction of biometric punching for the staff, which will help bring in more accountability and productivity in the department,” he said.
The Rs.5.5-crore project, being implemented by BSNL Civil Wing, includes installation of solar panels to tap and convert solar energy to electricity, construction of biogas plant for solid waste management, rainwater harvesting, replacement of electrical fittings and equipment, installation of LAN network, solar water heater for office canteen, modernisation of toilets, replacement of office furniture, building maintenance and landscaping.
