As part of the drive to track down errant autorickshaw drivers in the city, the police have taken steps against 518 people for drunk driving, 447 for using faulty meters, 203 for rash and negligent driving and 136 for charging exorbitant rates in the past three months. A press note issued here on Friday says that regular inspections are being held by police personnel across the city in the wake of a circular released by the City Police Commissioner in January this year. The police will also begin to cancel the driver’s licence or permit of repeat offenders. To register complaints against autorickshaw drivers, call 100, 1099 and 1090.
