Aparna Prabhakaran, a Class IV student of the lower primary section of Government Model Higher Secondary School, Thycaud, has been ‘elected’ the children’s ‘Prime Minister’ for this year’s Children’s Day celebrations.
Theertha S.P., a Class VII student of the Carmel Girls Higher Secondary School, will be the ‘President’ and Sadhra S. of Nirmala Bhavan Higher Secondary School the ‘Speaker.’

Theertha had been selected as the ‘Prime Minister’ when she was in Class IV.
Lakshmiraj J.S. of Holy Angels’ Convent has been selected to deliver the welcome speech and Advaith A. of Christ Nagar School, Thiruvallam, will propose the vote of thanks.
The students are the winners of the Malayalam elocution competition held as part of ‘Varnotsavam-2012,’ a cultural festival held for children of schools in the district, by the Kerala State Child Welfare Council, according to a press release issued by District Collector K.N. Satheesh here.
Celebration
The State government is organising the celebration in association with the council on November 14, the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who was the country’s first Prime Minister and who is fondly known to children as ‘Chacha Nehru’.
