Banned products seized

Banned tobacco products worth around Rs.20 lakh were seized from two youths who tried to evade the vehicle inspection at the Amaravila border check-post on Saturday.

The youth, arrested by the Amaravila Excise squad, have been identified as Rajesh (30) from Kanyakumari and Vipinkumar (30) from Parassala. After they sped off, the Excise team chased them for 20 kilometres and caught them near Karode.

Arrested with ganja

In another incident, the Cantonment police arrested a 27-year-old man from a flat in Rajaji Nagar for allegedly possessing 1.65 kg of ganja. The accused has been identified as Jayalal.
