A group of students from National College, Ambalathara, have developed a new technology that could generate electricity with the help of gravity.

The students — V. Adarsh, C.S. Aravind, S. Arun, Ajith, G. Krishnakumar, and R.K Rahul, all in their final year B.Sc. (Electronics), have developed Self Luminous Gravity Oriented technology.

A release from the college said the technology did not require any conventional form of energy sources.

Kinetic energy would be generated by rotating a set of gears with the help of gravitational force which in turn would be converted into electrical energy.

The energy thus produced would power an electronic circuit that would control the entire device.

“The important aspect of this project is that it could generate electricity in any situation immaterial of the weather. The amount of electricity usage could be reduced by using the device, SLGOT,” the release here said.

The students were guided by Principal of the College Abdul Rahim, head of department Madhusoodanan Pillai, and faculty member A. Sudheer.
