A wild elephant was spotted amid agricultural fields near Kukke Subramanya in Mangalore on Sunday. After having been spotted in Kollamogeru, Sullia taluk on Friday, Madapadi on Saturday night, the elephant made its way up to Guthigaru, Chanila, Mullubagilu, Kantila, Kamila before heading to Balpa reserve forest, said eye-witnesses and the Subramanya police.
Another wild elephant entered a field and damaged paddy crop and two coconut trees at Thombattu village near Udupi. Though officials from the Forest Department combed the nearby Thombattu Reserve Forest, there was no sign of the elephant. They plan on keeping vigil for the next seven days in the forest.
