Minister for Energy D.K. Shivakumar said here on Tuesday that he had wanted to transfer the slain Mangalore Electricity Supply Company engineer Jagadish Rao.

Mr. Rao, an Executive Engineer, was found with his throat slit at his residence in Bejai on September 21.

“There was a request from officials from Mangalore Electricity Supply Company to transfer him to Bangalore and I accepted. However, K. Abhayachandra Jain (Minister of State for Youth Empowerment and Sports) insisted he stay in Mangalore as he was a good officer. The Energy Department condoles his death,” said Mr. Shivakumar.
