Incubation for tech start-ups
Tata Elxsi, leading technology design firm, launched an incubation centre programme, titled ‘Incub@TE’, to support aspiring tech entrepreneurs. This initiative aims at creating the next wave of product- and service-oriented technology start-ups in the areas of mobile, social, local, enterprise, cloud and embedded applications, a release from the company stated.

Oracle’s suite focusses on ‘social’ tech
IT major Oracle unveiled its Oracle Social Relationship Management (SRM) Suite in India. The Oracle Social Relationship Management suite is an integrated enterprise service that enables companies to listen, engage, create, market and analyse interactions across multiple social platforms in real time, a release from the company stated.
Michel van Woudenberg, vice-president, CRM, Oracle Asia-Pacific, said in a release: “By fundamentally changing the way organisations connect with their different stakeholders, ‘social’ is changing the rules of business.” This suite includes the social network, the social engagement and monitoring cloud service and oracle social.
Microsoft launches innovation centres
Microsoft India launched 14 Microsoft Innovation Centres (MICs) across the country. As part of the worldwide programme, that currently has 75 MICs, Microsoft aims to launch a total of 100 MICs in India in the next two years, according to a statement from the company.
The MICs would act as innovation hubs at select colleges and technology institutes, providing incubation and expert hands-on support on Microsoft technology innovation, research, and software solutions, aiming to create a pool of student technology experts across India, it added. Joseph Landes, general manager, DPE, Microsoft India, said, “These centres are designed to offer a unique environment conducive to entrepreneurship among students. As knowledge and innovation become primary catalysts for economic growth in India, the centres can play a vital role in generating powerful new ideas through training, education and knowledge transfer.”
Medical solutions centre in Mysore
M*Modal, a clinical documentation and speech solutions provider, announced the expansion of its India operations with a new medical transcription centre in Mysore. In a release, Dinesh Kumar, managing director India, M*Modal said: “Medical transcription is a nascent market in Mysore, and with this new centre, we hope to develop interest among the local talent by providing strong career opportunities for candidates who want to make medical transcription a career.”
