The opening of the Tanishq showroom in the city, the 138 in the country, is a part of its “aggressive expansion” into places where its distribution is low, said Bhaskar Bhat, Managing Director of Titan Industries Limited, which operates the jewellery brand.
Addressing presspersons on the launch of the store at Balmatta Road on Wednesday, Mr. Bhat said: “We expect to add 2,00,000 square feet of retail space, with the average showroom being around 7,000 square feet, this year.” Expansion would mainly concentrate in areas where the brand recognition was high, but distribution of Tanishq jewellery was low, like Mangalore, he said.
Spread over 6,000 square feet, the store offers a variety of jewellery – from wedding collections, to diamond and ruby jewellery – that was bound to keep customers satisfied. The store provides inaugural offers like the distribution of free gold coins and discounts. “We see great potential in Mangalore, and initially when we operated here from a small set-up, the response was encouraging enough to open a larger showroom here,” said Mr. Bhat. The brand, which was recognised across the country, assured customers of quality at the best rates. The centre comes with a Karatmeter, a machine which reads the purity of gold.
On localising the brand collection in the city, Mr. Bhat said: “We have tweaked our collection. Mangalsutra ) and Corals are very popular here and we have included them in the showroom.”
