Seer said he had ‘explosive’ information

The Bantwal Town police have issued a notice to Rajashekarananda Swami of Vajradehi Mutt, Gurupura, to appear before them and help in the investigation into the murder of RSS activist Sharath Madiwala.

The notice follows the seer’s recent statement that he had “explosive” information about the murder and that he would provide it only to the National Investigation Agency. The police have asked the seer to be present at the station on Monday.

Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police C.H. Sudheer Kumar Reddy confirmed that the notice had been issued. He said the information might help in the arrest of the culprits. As of now, police had not achieved any breakthrough in the investigation, Mr. Reddy told The Hindu.

Food and Civil Supplies Minister U.T. Khader on Saturday had taken exception to the seer’s statement, saying concealing information too amounted to crime. The seer could not say that he had no faith in the State police, the Minister had said.
