A television serial on the life of Narayana Guru, a social reformer who lived between 1855 and 1928, is being filmed here.

According to a press release by the producers of the serial, Ashok G. Bondel and Harish G. Archarya, the sets are being constructed at a location here, although Naryana Guru was from Chembalaandi, a village in Kerala.

They said that finding a location that suited the times that Narayana Guru lived in was very difficult, and finally, they settled on Padushedde, near Bondel. One particular problem they faced was to find a place without electricity wires. The sets for the house in which the social reformer was born are now being erected at Padushedde, they said.

The producers have planned for 425 episodes of the serial. They include instances from his childhood and later life. Babu Shivapujary has written the script and Mr. Acharya will be directing it. The songs have been composed by several persons, including notable scholar Amruth Someshwar, Anusuya, Ennar K. Vishwanath, Gururaj Hosakete and Harish Acharya.

The producers have said that they were aware of several incidents that had happened during the childhood of Narayana Guru.

However, they have appealed to the general public to write to them if they are aware of any little-known incidents in the social reformer's life. Members of the public can also send songs composed about the social reformer to the producers. The producers can also be approached for a role in the serial as it would a large number of actors.

The producers can be reached at Sri Narayana Guru Swami Creations, Hameed Complex, Alake, Mangalore, the release said.
