Search on for rape accused

A 30-year-old woman, a mother of two children, was allegedly raped in a village near Vitla on Friday. She reported the incident to the police on Saturday. According to the Vitla police, 30-year-old Naveen has been accused of entering her house and raping her when there was nobody else in the house.

He then threatened her, saying that he would kill her if she went to the police. The police are searching for the accused.

Student missing

A 17-year-old boy from Udupi has been reported to be missing from his hostel in Ujire on Saturday. The Belthangady police said Ashal Shetty, a first year Pre-University student from Udupi, has been studying at Anugraha College since June, 2014. On Friday, he left the college hostel around 7 p.m. and did not return. He left a note in the hostel asking his parents not to search for him. A complaint has been filed by hostel warden, the police said.

Man found dead

The body of a 70-year-old man was found in a decomposed state near the parking area off the Nethravati bathing ghat in Dharmasthala on Saturday. The Belthangady police said the body was found hanging on a tree.

Man slips and dies

A person, who was trying to remove leaves from a tree, slipped, fell and died at Shedimane village, coming under Amasebail Police Station limits on Saturday.

According to the police, Devanna Nayak (55) was severely injured and died.
