Police station without an inspector for four months

April 27, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - MANGALURU:

The Ulllal police station, which has jurisdiction over Ullal, Thokkottu and several other sensitive areas, has been without a head for over four months.

The police inspector of Panambur station is currently in-charge of Ullal station, which has two sub-inspectors — one each for law and order, and crime. Inspector Savitra Teja was shunted out of Ullal station four months ago, allegedly for taking stern action against miscreants. Since then, the station has been without a full-time inspector.

During a meeting held to hear grievances of people belonging to SC/ST communities here on Sunday, the participants had expressed concern over the absence of a full-time station house officer for Ullal. Ullal is the hometown of Mangaluru MLA and Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader.
