The police here on Thursday made the driver and conductor of a city bus route number 15 operating between Surathkal and Mangaladevi temple to complete the trip till the temple after a passenger complained that they were refusing to go till the last stop.

A Traffic Police Sub Inspector R.K. Gowhar promptly responded to the complaint by a homemaker.

The homemaker first called the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) K. Tilakchandra on his mobile phone at about 8 p.m. and complained that the conductor was forcing her to alight at Kankanady and take another bus to the temple, though she had purchased ticket till the last stop.

Then Mr. Tilakchandra alerted Mr. Gowhar, who immediately rushed to Kankanady. Mr. Gowhar directed the driver to complete the trip and followed it in his vehicle till the temple. Later, he registered a case against the owner of the bus under the provisions of Indian Motor Vehicles Act for alleged violation of permit conditions. Mr. Tilakchandra said that the homemaker sent a message thanking the police for the prompt response and ensuring her safe return.
