A two-day floriculture and horticulture exhibition will begin at Kadri Park here at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday.
An exhibition on apiculture (called “Madhu Mela”) is being incorporated for the first time being conducted for the first time. A department official said that a variety of honey bees and honey will be on display. In addition, there will be a live honey box at the venue. Bee keeping equipment will also be on display.
Attempt to spread awareness about apictulture will be made in four sessions from 10.30 a.m. at the venue. Progressive apiculturist Puttanna Gowda from Sullia, progressive agriculturist L C Soans of Moodbidri, an Assistant Professor at College of Forestry, Ponnampet, Kodagu, R. Kencha Reddy, president of bee keepers’ cooperative society, Puttur Shyam Bhat and Deputy Director of Department of Horticulture, Dakshina Kannada , Yogesh H R will speak.
There will be a model of a music group carved in vegetables and fruits. Models of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru carved in vegetables and fruits will be on display.
There will be models of terrace gardening, exhibition of medicinal, ornamental plants, and exhibition of flowers and horticulture products, a release said. (EOM)
