Deputy Commissioner N.S. Channappa Gowda has asked the Assistant Commissioner of Puttur to conduct an inquiry into the death of two cattle traders near Kootelu in September 9, 2009.
Mr. Channappa Gowda's action follows a direction by the National Human Rights Commission in connection with the death of Mohammed Asif and Mohammed Mustafa. They were among the five cattle traders in the car that swerved into a river after seeing policemen. The bodies of Asif and Mustafa were found two days after the incident.
