Activists of the Endosulfan Virodhi Horata Samithi staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Monday against the State government for not releasing monthly pension since last December.

Addressing a gathering Sridhara Gowda K., president of the samithi, said that the Health Department was giving Rs. 1,800 per month for those who suffered 60 per cent and above physical deformities and Rs. 1,000 a month for those with less than 60 per cent physical deformities.

The victims have not received the amount since December, 2014.

He said that the government should provide Rs. five lakh as permanent compensation to each who suffered physical deformities due to endosulfan spray to cashewnut plantations in Dakshina Kannada between 1980 and 2000. In addition, families of those who died due to physical deformities should be paid Rs. five lakh permanent compensation.
