The Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police has suspended a police constable attached to Belthangady Police Station in Dakshina Kannada district for uploading posts with political overtones.

Raj Shivappa, constable, allegedly posted on his Facebook wall derogatory comments about Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. His comments were about Mr. Siddaramaiah’s visiting Dharmasthala after consuming non-vegetarian food and about his alleged discrimination against people on religious grounds.

Following these posts, Congress leaders submitted a complaint to the Belthangady police and demanded immediate action.

Superintendent of Police C.H. Sudheer Kumar Reddy confirmed the suspension.
