Members of the Mangalore North Block Congress Committee staged a protest in front of the office of the Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers Union here on Friday.
Led by committee president K. Suresh Ballal, they raised slogans against the Bharatiya Janata Party Government in the State, alleging that the price of milk had been increased in an unscientific manner.
In a memorandum submitted to an office-bearer of the union, they pointed out that the same Government had opposed a proposal to increase the milk price by Rs. 2 a litre when H.D. Revenna was heading the Karnataka Milk Federation.
Now, it had increased the milk prices by Rs. 4 a litre in Dakshina Kannada.
The protesters demanded immediate withdrawal of the hike or the entire additional earnings be passed on to milk producers and bring uniformity in milk prices.
