Catholic churches are set to get new software with four in-built Bible versions, hymn lyrics and prayers. It has Konkani, Kannada and English Bible with Catholic versions. Most churches offer masses in multiple languages and Konkani is popular in coastal Karnataka churches.
The software, which is expected to help the clergy in making their audio-visual presentations more authentic and appealing, supports file import facilities and an overlay scroll bar. These will help the churches in using modern display methods to “spread the word of God” during prayers, Eucharistic celebrations and retreats, according to city-based advocate M.P. Naronha, who led the team that worked for the software. It was undertaken as directed by Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza, he said.
Named ‘Epthatha’, it will be made available to all churches soon. Stating that it was not a made-for-commercial purpose, he said it is based on 73-book Bible which is recognised by Catholics.
It has a media player with secondary display window format and has daily prayers, Rosary, way of the cross in Konkani, Kannada and English. Details have been uploaded to the website www.catholicworship.org.
