It was a heady mix of nostalgia and pride as Balmatta Pre-University College celebrated its centenary anniversary on Thursday.
The students of the girl’s college were dressed in their finest attire as the event featured cultural performances, science exhibitions, and even a walk down memory lane. Pictures displayed at the college, a transition from black and white pictures to sepia images to colour photographs, catalogued 100 years of the oldest government primary school for girls in Dakshina Kannada district.
Interestingly, attendance records and other records from the past century were on display.
Vasudev Kamat, principal of the college, said the college shifted to the building in 1912, with about 150 students between class 1 and 5.
MLC Capt. Ganesh Karnik and Mayor Gulzar Banu visited the college.
