The district administration has decided to conduct special camps to receive petitions pertaining to ‘computer mistakes’ in 10 (1) chitta and depute the Revenue Divisional Officers (RDOs) to taluk offices to issue fresh pattas after carrying out the corrections, Collector S Natarajan has said.

As a large number of petitions received during week-long ‘jamabandhi’ pertained to mistakes in 10 (1) chitta, which were mandatory for registering lands, the district administration has decided to conduct special camps to receive petitions and issue fresh pattas under the direct supervision of the RDOs, he said.

Mr. Natarajan, who addressed the concluding jamanabandhi at Thiruvadanai taluk office recently, said he would head the special camps in seven taluk offices on dates to be announced later.

In Thiruvadanai taluk, patta holders, who required the corrections, could present petitions till May 31, he said.

Ramanatapuram and Paramakudi RDOs have been asked to personally visit the taluk offices and issue fresh 10 (1) chitta after carrying out necessary corrections with the help of team of officials, he said.

The RDOs have been asked to directly visit the Taluk offices to reduce time lag and burden of the petitioners, he said.

Mr. Natarajan said a total of 672 petitions were received during the jamabandhi meetings and 200 of them were disposed of instantaneously. The other petitions requesting change of pattas, free house site pattas, old age pensions, drinking water facilities, Mudra bank loan and removal of encroachments were being perused for necessary action, he said.

As people also complained about lack of drinking water facilities, the village panchayat secretaries have been directed to make field visits in their respective villages and identify drinking water sources and address the problems in consultation with higher officials.

“The district administration has accorded top priority in resolving drinking water problems,” the Collector said.
