The Department of School Education has warned schools against collecting school fees in excess of what has been determined by the Government. This is applicable to all private schools in Madurai district.

The headmasters/principals have been given directions in this regard, according to a press release here from Chief Educational Officer K. Rajani Rathnamala here on Tuesday.

She has said that stern action would be taken against schools which are collecting more fees.

“If a school is found violating this directive on school fees, the Department would take over that private school and run it as per provisions in the Private Schools Regulation Act,” Ms. Rathnamala said.
