Sangam 4, the 10-day event that focussed on Madurai’s history, culture and tradition, concluded at the Tamukkam here with drummer Sivamani’s beats accompanied by a sharp downpour on Sunday.
M. Jegath Gaspar, convenor of Sangam 4, announced the creation of a Peace and Reconstruction Fund with a corpus of Rs. one lakh to rehabilitate war widows of Sri Lanka and also provide education to their children.
Educational institutions in and around Madurai, including Fatima College, American College and Pandian Saraswathi Yadav Engineering College, have already come forward to accommodate the children of war widows in their courses.

The event, which began on August 12 with a talk on the ongoing archaeological excavation at Keezhadi near here by R. Balakrishnan, Additional Chief Secretary, Odisha, featured rural Olympics, bicentenary celebration of Tamil education in Malaysia and formulation of a blueprint for bilateral business links between Tamil Nadu and Malaysia.
