Students of various schools and colleges on Wednesday took out a rally here to create awareness on the need for protecting the environment in view of World Environment Day.

The Chief Educational Officer, A.S. Radhakrishnan, flagged off the rally at Aranmanai, where a large number of students from different parts of the district had assembled with campaigning materials on environment protection.

The rally went through Vandikara Street, Roman Church, Government Hospital Road, Agraharam Road and culminated at the Schwartz Higher Secondary Schools.

They carried placards and banners, which highlighted the consequences of environment degradation.

Pamphlets

They also distributed pamphlets to the people on sharing responsibilities for keeping the environment neat and clean.

Later, a meeting was organised at the Schwartz school campus.
