A 17-year-old boy, who has just completed Plus Two, died in a road accident on Friday while returning from his school after collecting his marksheet.

Police sources said that the victim M. Karthik Sriram, residing in Viswanathadas Nagar in Tiruppalai, had gone in a motorbike to his school in the morning.

After collecting his Plus Two marksheet, he went to meet his friends and was later returning from Anaiyur towards Uchaparambumedu in the afternoon, when the incident happened. According to the police, Karthik’s bike skidded on applying brakes due to presence of sand on the road. As he fell down, a mini-bus coming behind ran over him, killing him on the spot, police said.

The Oomatchikulam police have registered a case against driver of the bus.
