Seven express trains suffered detention of one hour to three hours after some locomotive pilots staged a “work-to-rule” protest on Thursday.

Railway sources said that the down trains bound for southern districts were stopped as the pilots were agitated over suspension of Loco Pilot Edwin Sahayaraj and Assistant Loco Pilot Sivarajan of Madurai division.

Following the protest, Coimbatore-Nagercoil Express, Bengaluru-Nagercoil Express, Nellai Expres, Pearl City Express, Ananthapuri Express, and Pandian Express were detained at various railway stations. Pearl City Express was detained for more than three hours, sources also added.
