The Madras High Court bench here on Monday passed an interim order restraining the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) from releasing the list of candidates selected as postgraduate assistants in History.
Justice S. Nagamuthu issued the order based on the petitions filed by R. Jothi Abraham and two others seeking the inclusion of their names in the provisional list inviting candidates for certificate verification scheduled on October 22.
The petitioners claimed that they were not called for certificate verification despite having cleared the written test held on July 21, 2013. The number of vacancies for the post of PG assistants in History in the State was 173, they added.
According to the petitioners, the provisional list released on the TRB’s official website contained the names of 173 candidates. If the candidates whose names featured in the provisional list were allowed to participate in the certificate verification process, the vacancies would be filled and the petitioners would be denied jobs, they contended. However, the counsel appearing for the TRB submitted that a comprehensive list of candidates, inviting more persons for the certificate verification, would be released next week.
Justice Nagamuthu recorded the submissions of the TRB and ordered an interim stay on releasing the list of candidates selected after Tuesday’s certificate verification.
