Advocates boycotted court proceedings at the Madras High Court Bench here for the fourth consecutive day on Friday over the Sri Lanka issue.
They staged demonstrations in front of the court and burnt the effigy of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The district court advocates staged a mock trial in which the Sri Lankan President was tried for the alleged war crimes committed in the island nation during the civil war. Holding Mr. Rajapaksa guilty of war crimes at the mock trial, the advocates hung an effigy of the Sri Lankan President and burnt it in public view.
The High Court advocates had planned to lay siege and lock the post office and BSNL office within the court premises to express their displeasure over the Union government’s stand in the Sri Lanka issue. However, they changed their plan and resorted to various other forms of agitations.
