The Valandur police have registered a cheating case against two persons S. Indira and M. Nagarathinam on the charge of having prepared fake order cancelling the government’s acquisition of their land which was distributed among 69 Dalit families in 1998.

The police said that the two accused had objected to the government acquiring their land at Kuravakudi and distributing among the Dalits.

Even as a legal battle was under way in the court, they produced an order claiming to have been issued by the Revenue Department that the land need not have been acquired.

No such order

However, when one of the beneficiaries P. Selvam (41) sought details about the order through the Right to Information Act, it was revealed that the Revenue Department had not issued any such order.

Based on the complaint of Selvam, the Valandur police have registered the case for cheating, criminal breach of trust, forgery and forgery.
