Tamil Nadu stands a good chance to see a politician from the State become the Prime Minister. If we work hard in the coming Lok Sabha polls, we can make the party supremo and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa the Prime Minister, according to Vaigai Selvan, Minister for School Education, Youth Welfare and Sports.
Addressing the advisory meeting of the party’s youth and young women’s wing at Tamukkam grounds here on Saturday, he said that Tamil Nadu is getting a golden chance to make their Chief Minister as the Prime Minister of the nation.
“Two times we had an opportunity to make a Tamil, the Prime Minister, first when Kamaraj had an opportunity in the mid-1960s and later in late-1990’s when G.K. Moopanar had a chance, but it never materialised. So, if the youth wing works hard and makes a clean sweep in the coming Lok Sabha polls, Jayalalithaa has a bright chance,” the Minister said.
The meeting was part of Jayalalithaa’s strategy to take the message of the achievements of the AIADMK government to the people and induct new members for the coming Lok Sabha polls. Similar meetings would be held in all district headquarters.
The School Education Minister recalled that Madurai, since the days of MGR, was a bastion of AIADMK and that during the last regime, the DMK had a grip on the city using anti-social elements.
Minister for Cooperation Sellur K.Raju in his address said that most of the schemes brought out by the Chief Minister were aimed towards the next generation. The meeting saw a number of youngsters participate in it. Madurai West MLA R. Sundararajan, who was suspended from the DMDK, was present.
