Rotary Club of Madurai in association with Rotary Club of Goioere, Brazil, has donated Rs. 50 lakh worth infrastructure facilities to Appar High School here.

The infrastructure included two toilet blocks for boys and girls, a reverse osmosis plant to provide safe drinking water, more than 20 computers and 320 desks and benches.

The facilities were formally handed over to the school on Thursday in a function attended by many Rotarians. According to R. Sivarajah, president of the Rotary Club of Madurai, the project is not about infrastructure alone but will involve other activities in the future, like training the teachers and students in computers, counselling and training on hygienic practices.
