71 sovereigns of gold recovered

15 held for burglaries

Madurai Rural police have arrested 15 persons in connection with several burglary cases reported in the district and recovered 71 sovereigns of gold and two cars from them.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police N. Manivannan appreciated the special teams that nabbed the accused and recovered properties worth over ₹22 lakh.

Two persons were arrested and 18 sovereigns of gold jewels that were stolen from houses under Peraiyur and T. Kallupatti police station limits were recovered from them.

A special team solved over 15 other cases of burglary reported under Samayanallur, Sholavanthan, Vadipatti and Nagamalai Pudukottai police station limits by arresting 13 persons.

Two cars and 53 sovereigns of gold were recovered from them, the SP said.
