A 12-cm-long worm was removed from the eye of a 20-year old B.Com student from Muvattupuzha. The youngster had come to the General Hospital with complaint of irritation and swelling. Ophthalmologist Jancy Augustine took the girl for immediate operation after she examined her in the OP and found something wrong with the eyeball movement.

Scientifically called Lou lou, the eye worm does not generally affect vision, but causes pain when it moves about in the eye. The doctor has admitted the patient for observation and will be discharged on Saturday.
