: The story of the growth of the Kerala State Electricity Board is one that runs parallel to that of Kerala’s progress. In an attempt to present the highlights of this journey to the public, the public relations department of KSEB is putting together a collection of pictures and documents from its archives.
KSEB’s archives are a huge cache of documents that illustrate a part of Kerala’s history. While these were previously difficult for the public to access, the board is working on an exhibition that will showcase some of these moments from history. “There are so many things that people do not know or realise about KSEB. Though there is a lot of criticism about the impact of dams and such, the Board is the leader in preserving nature through its many land assets in different parts of the State,” said S.D. Prince, chief public relations officer of KSEB.
The Board has shared a few pictures from the collection on its Facebook page, which has over one lakh ‘likes’.A photograph is that of the Morning Glory Intake of the Idukki dam–the beginning of the water flow from Idukki dam to the Moolamattom power house. The structure is currently invisible as it stands below the surface of the water. Mr. Prince said that the KSEB had received an encouraging response to its idea of putting together an exhibition. The Board has also invited people who may have pictures or documents concerning the KSEB’s history to share the documents with them.
