: Around 4,000 of the 6,000 workers engaged in Kochi Metro’s civil works are idling due to non-availability of aggregate following the ongoing quarry strike, DMRC said in a release.

All civil works will come to a halt in a day or two if there is further delay in procuring raw materials from quarries. The workers might advance their plan to leave for their native places in northern India for the Puja festival and might return only after two months, affecting scheduled completion of the metro by June 2016. The construction of station buildings which are in the advanced stage need more labour the release said.
