‘Judiciary enjoys vast powers in the country'

The Constitution has vested judges with powers and rights, so that they uphold people's rights, A. P. Shah, former Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court has said.

He was speaking on the Indian Constitution at the State-level meeting of the Indian Lawyers Congress, here on Sunday. The judiciary in India enjoys vast powers and few other courts in the world enjoy as much powers as India's Supreme Court. The Indian Supreme Court has even powers to interpret the Constitution, he said.
