Labour and Excise Minister T.P. Ramakrishnan on Tuesday launched a grading system for establishments that provide employment under a new programme to improve labour welfare and forge a new work culture in the State. Shops, business establishments, factories and production units will be graded based on the working conditions in the establishments. Those who achieve up to 80% marks in the grading system will be assigned A+ while those obtaining between 70 and 80% will be graded as A. Those establishments obtaining between 60 and 70% of the marks will be graded B.

The Minister expressed the hope that gradually all establishments that provide employment woulld come under the grading system.
