Accused in fake currency case held after 18 years

The Ernakulam Organised Crime Wing of the Crime Branch on Saturday arrested an accused in a fake currency case. He was absconding for the past 18 years.

The arrested has been identified as Rejimon alias Kunjumon, 60, Muzhavannoor. The accused had reportedly given counterfeit currency of Rs. 100 denomination after drinking in a bar at Kolenchery in 1997. The case registered by the Puthencruz police on a complaint by bar employees was later handed over to the Crime Branch.

The accused went absconding after being released on bail by the court. The Crime Branch said the accused had been working in a private company in Coimbatore.
