Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Anita Pratap on Saturday released an election manifesto of her party for the Ernakulam Lok Sabha constituency, giving top priority to supply of potable drinking water across the region, especially in islands off Kochi.
Speaking after releasing the manifesto at the Ernakulam Press Club, Ms Pratap said she was getting wide acceptance among the electorate in the constituency but most media organisations were choosing to ignore her campaign.
She said she and her party would try to implement the manifesto irrespective of the electoral outcome in the constituency. Enhancing the standard of government schools in the constituency, improving the condition of government hospitals and ensuring a proper solid waste disposal system also formed part of the manifesto. It also promises to improve living standards of those who live in the coastal areas apart from enhancing the public transport system.
Fight against graftThe manifesto also promises steps to fight corruption even at the grassroots level where ordinary citizens have to face corrupt officials and politicians.
It extends support for various peoples’ movements and seeks a larger public space fro them. It also promises support to environmental groups which are taking a strong stand against reclamation of wetlands and paddy fields apart from excessive mining of resources. A workable solution to the problems confronting three-wheeler operators also would be evolved, said the manifesto.
