1.9 kg of gold seized

Officials of the Air Customs unit at the Cochin International Airport Limited on Wednesday nabbed a 47-year-old person and seized about 1.9 kg of gold worth Rs.55 lakh from his possession.

The person was identified as Kunjumohammad Anwar, a native of Thrissur, who landed here by a Qatar Airways flight from Jeddah via Doha in the morning. The metal, in the form of six gold bars weighing 1,950 grams, was found concealed in his body. The accused was intercepted at the exit gate of the arrival hall while attempting to leave through the green channel.
