The Telangana Government has decided not to accept the dissertations or thesis of junior doctors who have for the past 45 days been participating in the medical strike.
With junior doctors boycotting their academic and clinical duties, the government said the submission of thesis – mandatory for medicos – will not be allowed this year.
There are close to 400 junior doctors who are to submit their thesis during the final PG examinations, officials said.
“Medicos are not attending their clinical duties in hospitals and even academic activity has come to a standstill. We have alerted their parents that they stand to lose their attendance eligibility for their final exams in March,” Director of Medical Education, Telangana, Putta Srinivas said.
Authorities said medicos have already lost eligibility to appear for their university examinations.
Meanwhile, the government has posted 50 house surgeons who did their MBBS at private medical colleges to OGH and Gandhi Hospital. “They stand to lose their eligibility to appear for next year’s PG entrance examinations,” authorities said. Meanwhile, the medicos have decided to continue with their strike.
