Women power to the fore

Telangana has more women running households than several States in the country, including Andhra Pradesh. While the national average of women heading households is put at 12.83 per cent, in Telangana, 16.06 per cent of the rural households are headed by women.

In AP, 15.53 per cent households are run by women. As per SECC, the number of women who remain unmarried in the State is 36.56 per cent and those married is 42.52 percent.

While the total number of widowed women is 4.45 per cent, those remaining separated from their spouses is 0.68 per cent.

Also, the average household size is at a low 4.14 per cent when compared to the national average of 4.93 per cent.
