The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has announced increased tariff rates, doubling them for commercial, industrial & industrial water-based consumers with immediate effect. However, domestic consumers have been spared from any hike.
In the commercial category, for water usage between 0 and 200 kilolitres (kl), the revised rate is up to Rs. 100/kl in various slabs in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits and Rs. 180/ kl outside GHMC limits.
In the industrial category, the revised rate between Rs. 50/kl and Rs.120/kl is up to Rs. 200/kl within GHMC limits and Rs. 180/ kl outside GHMC limits. For industrial water-based consumers, the revised tariff is Rs. 200/kl for the entire quantity within the GHMC limits and Rs. 240/kl outside GHMC limits.
The revised sewerage charges for consumers of the three categories is 35 per cent on the water demand for customers within GHMC area whereas there is no sewerage cess charges for consumers outside corporation limits.
The HMWSSB also simplified the process of documentation for 15 mm diameter pipe water supply connections. The applicants, who are the real owners of the premises or lessess, can file an affidavit (indemnity bond) on Rs.100 non-judicial stamp paper duly notarised in the prescribed format, with the electricity bill along with the application to apply for 15 mm diameter water supply connection.
The regularisation of illegal water supply connections was applicable for premises which were not having water supply connections earlier and the last day of this scheme is March 31, 2014. For consumers who clear their entire dues before March 31, 2014, the entire interest amount will be waived.
